R&D Weather and Climate Modeling

About me

At KNMI I have multiple roles. The main one is climate researcher in climate analysis: using observational and model datasets to investigate how the climate is predictable due to climate change, but also due to El Niño and decadal variability, with an emphasis on extreme weather and climate events. This often comes together in Extreme Event Attribution: estimating the rold of anthropogenic climate change on extreme events. Besides this I also maintain the data and software of the Climate Explorer climate analysis web site, and try to communicate results from climate research to the public. Since Otober 2019 I am also visiting professor at the University of Oxford.

I work on various EU-funded and KNMI-funded projectts and participate in the (currently unfunded) World eather attribution (WWA) collaboration. The cloud provider hosting the KNMI Climate Explorer will be down for maintenance 14 and 15 January 2020. For urgent, small calculations you can attempt to use my 9-yr old home computer,
